I worked on Head 2 Head Trivia as the General Designer under Solanimus. I was responsible for the design infrastructure and art for the game. This included implementing system design, visual design, art, and animation into the game through Unity.

App Design
 
I was responsible for creating the branding overview, visual language and design layout for the app. For the visual design of the app, we went with a colorful pop-art aesthetic to create a vibrant feel. The desire was to make the game more approachable to a casual audience.

We were prompted early on to stay away from brainy imagery, so I instead focused on identity as a core motif.

I was brought onto the marketing team on July 2024, where I was assigned to create a new website for the game.

Random Number Generator
The site uses PHP based RNG to load the website with different show competitors and text elements each time the page loads. the Generator ensures no one number is called more than once (unles otherwise requested).
Character slideshow function

Viewers can explore different character/podium combinations on the homepage. Flavor text dynamically generates to add an element of fun and good humor to the page.

Website uses '@use' sass element to allow for dynamic color mapping while minimizing development time.

Characters are created to fit a variety of player interests and trivia topics. They are kept on the lighter side to reinforce approachability and to invoke good humor.

in conjunction with the characters, players may select a podium. Podiums range from typical gameshow podiums to more ridiculous concepts.

I made several images to be implemented as character backgrounds. This allows for further character customization while saving development time.

I wanted the art for the website to feel cohesive with the app. However I also wanted to move away from the playable characters to recapture the initial concept of the game which had been lost in previous marketing efforts.

Animation
Character Animations
Each Character is designed to have a looping idle animation during gameplay. Each piece is made using vector art through illustrator.

As of this time, some of the characters have not been animated in game. This is not a result of animation delays but rather the current contract agreement.

Animation Types
Each character has three animations, idle, correct, and incorrect. The latter two animations play after a player answers a question. Due to the fast paced nature of the game, these animations must be instant.

Tutorial Video
I was hired to make a intro animation to go with the narrator's tutorial on a tight deadline. For the sake of time, I went with a series of png images that could be animated in Unity using the tools avaialble within that program.

Conclusion
While working on Head 2 Head, I was granted a level of freedom unlike most prior jobs. It was also refreshing to be able to focus more on the art and visual side of project.
On July 2024 I was hired to course correct the marketing for the app. However I was only able to finish the website before the app was put on hiatus while investors considered their next move.
